I just set up my NAS-Lite and wanted to stream dvd's to the home theater. What media receivers are you all using? How well it works, problems, ese of setup, etc. I will be using 802.11g. Thanks

Hello WC,

I have a DLink 320 medial player in my lounge room. I stream to it wirelessly and it works just fine. I have another low end pc that I am going to put in my garage and probably run winamp on it just to playback music.

I was thinking of trashing the hardrive and setting up a minimum linux os and then running a mp3 player on that but Im not a unix guru and am concerned that I will spending the next 6 months just trying to get it to work (old pc so issues with getting drivers etc...). From a set and forget perspective I would prefer the linux method and also because a minimal set up would be less resource hungry so a old low end system would work ok but then again if the only thing I want to do is stream mp3 to this box (via cat 5)then an old win98 os with everything I can strip from it removed might be ok.

I am also looking for old point of sale lcd screens or similar (12" or smaller) that I can hook up to a video card in older machines so I can then stream (again only mp3) to various other rooms (kids) in the house (ie the pc box in a cupboard and a thin screen on the wall or desktop).

Perhaps a forum could be set up in here for people to discuss these issues. What they have done and how they did it. It would be an adjunct to other sections in here on what hardware people are running NasLite on.

Anyway thats my 2 bobs worth.

Hi Adrian,

So the Dlink 320 has been working good for you? No problems with stuttering? The Dlink found the NAS box easily?. Do you know anything about the 520?

WC

i have been using an XBox (with mod chip and XBMC) as my media centre and have been extremly happy with the results, it seems to be able to play anything including cue/bin & ISOs of vcd/svcd and even rared/split file sets
