Thanks Mike.

I'll be back if I have any problems.

Mark.

I ended up installing FreeNAS. I liked it so much I've built two FreeNAS devices. It's a shame I ended up upgrading NASLite M2 twice and dedicating a whole year to fix a problem that could not be fixed by NASLite, nor it's community.

The problem is that there is no access to the underlying OS and applications that are built there on. When the hardware and the OS are good it is great and simple. When there is an issue there is little to be done other than to reset the BIOS, maybe update it too, and finally when all else fails to solve the issue, change hardware. This is not likely what one wants to hear but it is the facts of it.

Sorry that you had to cut and run but glad you got it up and running after all.

Good luck!

Mike

Thanks Mike,

I love how FreeNAS allows you to combine all drives into one; JBOD I think it's called. Much better than what I was working with previously. Plus the RAID functions are very very very handy. It's very complex to get up and running though. Not as simple and straight forward as NASLite. Anyway, it's obvious that I've outgrown NASLite.

NASLite served me well for over 5 years and I appreciate the community and the efforts of the software engineers.

Regard, Mark.
