Has anybody used this yet for a NASLite server? It only has 100 MB ethernet built in, but it does have one PCI slot that can be used for a GB NIC. SATA is only 1.5 GB/s. Overall price will probably be slightly lower than a Terminator, but it will probably be quieter.

A forum search had 0 matches, but I find it surprising that nobody has tried using this.

Interesting, what do they cost for the baseline config?

My bet is that it will work, both of the main parts are of older design.

As far as the SATA being only 1.5Gb/sec that is not an issue since there is no drive that can put out that kind of sustained data rate, even burst off of the cache may not be that high. 3.0Gb/sec is more of a marketing thing with little to no real benefits to the end user.

The retail price is $75. All you need to buy is memory.

Looks sweet although I wouldn't be able to use it as I need at least 2 spare PCI slots for the gigabit nic and the raid card.

Hello friends

I buy this mobo to use it for my new naslite server, and the problems begin !!!
I update the bios with the latest one. Then I try to boot with my usb stick from my old naslite (ver. 2.03) but nothing. Then I try all possible combinations with 2 different usb stick, disable in bios all unused onboard itemsl, I try with one PATA disk, with one SATA disk, the result was nothing.

Then I buy the last naslite ver. 2.06 (because there was newer kernel) and I try all the above combonatios, but the results was the same, zero.

I write this post after booting with ubuntu 7.10 live cd. This means that there is no problem with the mobo, right?

Can someone help me, please???

P.S. Sorry for my bad english

I forgot to write the message on screen after the naslite screen with the running dots:

Uncompressing NASLite kernel...
Ok, booting the kernel.
PCI: Unable to handle 64-bit address space for
-

and stay there.

Anyone help me???

Just because Ubuntu boots does not mean that NL will. Ubuntu has allot more drivers built in and allot more support developers.

I don't compare naslite with ubuntu. I try ubuntu only to find maybe there was a problem with the mobo.

I think that the SIS chipset in not very new and the naslite can use old hardware.

I wanted to use it with 2x250GB on PATA and 2x750GB on SATA and the onboard nic or with another nic on PCI, after benchmarking.

So, there is no solution for my problem?

P.S. Sorry for my bad english

First, sorry for my double post.

I continue my tries this time with freenas. I try to install it on my first usb stick, but I can't do it. Then I try with my second usb stick and BINGO!! Everything was good.

I don't want to use freenas, I test it to see what was happens. So something is missing from Naslite.

Ralph, Tony can you fix it, please?

I'm very happy with your programm and I use it to my old server, but I must find a solution with mobo.

Thanks in advance!!

Hello again.

Tony, Ralpf any help? I see that ver. 2.06 is almost 6 months old.

Maybe I hope for a new version with kernel 2.6.xx, so I and a few friends with the same mobo find a solution to our problem?

Thanks

Come on guys, any word from you?

May I think that you are working for the new version of NASLite? Soon?

There must be a solution for my problem and perhaps others?

Thanks

We don't have that board to test with, but the problem is most likely caused by incompatibilities between the 32bit NASLite-2 kernel and the 64bit architecture you are trying to run it on. In most cases 64bit machines will do fine, but obviously that's not true in this case. I'm not sure what options you have in the BIOS but I suspect the answer may be there.

Hi, just a couple of questions:

1)Does the onboard nic is supported on NASLITE 2.06 or 2.10 ?
2)Are boot problems fixed with NL 2.10, or this mobo still won't boot NASLITE ?
Thanks

Spidercy

NASLite-M2 V1.00 and v1.01 both work on it. The bad thing is sending data to it is super slow. Reading data from it is very fast. Something with the Ethernet driver I guess. Both v1.00 and v1.01 have the same Ethernet speed problum!

Other wise it works super good with this Mini-ITX Intel D201GLY2 board.
