I am getting extremely frustrated with this Thing now. I did a reboot and it does show that it is stopping the megaraid card. Why cant i see the drives that are on this card?? I just want to get an example going to show my boss.

Yah I have been using the server for almost a year now. and we have all the license and unlock code entered and its legal. It just doesnt detect a drive for the logical drive I set up on the Raid card.

Your log seems to show that you have 2 drives installed - have you formatted / exported the RAID logical drive?

If you can get into the BIOS on the other PC, why not try to configure the whole server there?

If you can and you can access the drive then if it doesn't work in the first PC then that PC is at fault (in some way - not all motherboards are compatible - or it could just be a BIOS setting or two causing problems). As a matter of course, disable in BIOS *ALL* motherboard devices not used (i.e.USB, LPT, COM, Audio, etc, etc).

the two drives that you are seeing are probably my original drives which are 500gb. With the raid card I am testing it with 2 10gb drives but it will not let me export them. here is what I have.

I should have 3 drives total. 2 of them are working right now and are not on the raid card.

the other drive is a raid 0 with the 2 10gb drives on the raid card and dont show up in naslite at all.

Are the drives "exported" on the RAID card? I can't remember off the top of my head how I got the drives which were connected to the LSI card to be seen by NASLite.

Generally the card is windows centric and as such there is a windows utility you use to access the card and configure the array/s and drives. I have tried to get into the BIOS based utility with no luck, that was my solution. I slaved the card in a windows machine and configured the array, then shut it all down and installed it in the NAS and formated the array EXT3. I know this is sort of a kludge but it works.

I did all of my setup in the card's BIOS - I'll try to dig out the card and a pair of IDE drives to see if I can remember how to create a RAID1 array.

The card has to be setup in it's BIOS for the RAID array you wish to have presented to the OS in order to be able to have NASLite see and format it. I just was never able to get into the BIOS to make these changes and set up the card regardless of the firmware revision so I went the windows utility route instead.

The card does work like gang busters once it is configured though so don't give up on it.

So your saying that if I put the card and drives in a windows pc and get it formatted with the raid utility then I can remove it and put it in the Naslite and it should recognize it?? what is the utility called??
