Some new information here...

Checked SMART settings in the Telnet interface... don't see anything wrong.

However, I checked in folder status/html/ where the html pages are stored and here're the pages I could find:

syslog.htm
server.htm
storage.htm
storage-Disk-0.htm

Yes the Disk-0 page had been generated but not the the others. When I delete the contents of the HTML folder, it regenerates the same pages...

Now what is weirder is that the storage.htm page just shows the system, not the other drives. Yet, the Disk-0 page is generated...

I decided to run a Check Disk-X filesystem on all drives to see if anything would show up... and nothing did...

Any ideas?

After running for a while, what is the system load? Say after 10 minutes with no activity other than status generation...

For some reason, the status probe appears to be confused by the CMD649 and the info it returns. That is puzzling to me. :?

If anyone else is having a symilar problem, please speak up. I'm not sure if we are trying to troubleshoot a braindead board or a bug in the probe. The worrisome part is I can't find any info on the card msboston is using.

Well is anybody using that controller at all?? Am I the only one with a CMD0649?

I think it's a rather classic controller...

I checked SMARTMONTOOLS archives and it looked like this card was not causing any specific problems to the application

Thanks

It is a common chipset, however the controller itself has a lot of manufacturer-specific items including a BIOS that may be the culprit. I'm not suggesting that there is a problem with the CMD0649 chipset. What I'm suggesting is that the status probe NASLite-2 uses is unable to complete it's task for reasons introduced by the addition of that controller. I'm unable to find manufacturer's info on the pertuculat card that you have, so I'm asking if there is anyone else having the same problem.

I also get this mesage /etc/ServerElements?binNL2-0B: 450 syntzx error:100--259

this seems to happen when I am transferring a large file from the server. I believe mine is the result of an irq interrupt with my gigabyte card. I can't seem to disable the irq problem on the motherboard.

I’m a bit puzzled by this one. What version of NASLite-2 are you running? I’ll take a closer look over the next few days.

USB version 2.04. On top of the error message the connectivity to my network drops. I can get to other computers on my network but not the NAS box when this happens. I have to reboot the system to gain connection to the NAS again. Not sure how to troubleshoot this one because I can not get to any log files once the NAS connectivity is lost.

Since all my shutdowns and reboots are systematically followed by full scans and repairs of Disk-3 (the one on the card as Master), I have decided to buy a new card...

I have purchased the ROSEWILL PCI RC-200 RTL... I'll replace my CMD with this one this week end.

Wish me luck!

Alright... installed the Rosewill card. It solved the rebooting issue where dives attached to the card had to go through a whole repair to be mounted properly.

SMART web pages still show only:
syslog.htm
server.htm
storage.htm
storage-Disk-0.htm

So the money is not totally lost. Maybe its Drive-1 that is causing the issue...

Any advice?
