Morning all,

Playing about with one of these , got 128mb ram fitted to card ,4 western digital 500g Blue as raid 10 with 256k blocks

Write speed using nas tester 1.4 measured at 3.5 mb/sec :( read speed 117 mb/sec

bit disappointed with write speed i know that write speed suffers when in raid configuration,
would increasing onboard ram to 1 gig make much noticeable difference ?

any ideas

Steve

Try changing the block size to say 4k and see if the numbers change.

I have some vague recollection of the same thing happening to me with the same RAID card. It's something to do with a cache setting. Once I had disabled write caching, the write speed improved enormously.
