I am always on the lookup for intersting products for NAS building. One of the gadgets I like but dont use are Hard Drive caddies.
Esssentially I have played with a few low end hard drive caddies and find them functional but unless you choose versions with fans they produce unacceptable drive temperatures.
To get around this you can buy higher end caddies with quieter fans or retro-fit your own.
But all this kind of goes against the re-cycle/cheap approach NASLite builders like.
Enter the CoolerMaster 4-in-3 Device Module
This is a 3*5.25" bay adaptor that lets you install 4*3.5" devices. It comes with a high quality 12cm.
The nice thing about this is that even a lowly PII box is likely to have enough space to fit this and it will keep you drives organised, secure and most of all cool.
On top of this they are VERY cheap when compared to buying 4 drive caddies.
There are alot of links on google but i have yet to find the genuine manufacturers page. In its absense i attach a link to a shop that has nice pictures.
The down side is that they seem quite hard to get a hold of in Europe so i will let you know in 2 weeks when mine are deliverd the final verdict.
I'd like to hear people experiences on this or similar products.
Kudos
