I was working on installing twonky sever on it. But can't get it working on it. But Logitech Media Server runs on it super good. I have 2 USB 3TB hard drives on it. It's booting from one of them. It runs a web page very good. I have WordPress on it. Webmin and other things. apt-get install can install lots of things.

I am running it as a server so log in to it. I don't even have the HDMI port hooked up.

It would work super good I am sure Server Elements got NASLite working with ARM. At lest they have Linix that can do it.

The ARM CPU with a command can set the speed of it all the way up to 1.6 GHz. Each of the 2 cores.

sounds like a solid piece of hardware for the task if it weren't so limited in inputs and storage. I would more look towards the Atom processor for a NAS, it has much more flexibility on the storage side as well as allowing for far more RAM. Total power would likely not top 10Watts for one running full tilt. The ARM based unit would likely not top 7Watts.

I did order one though to give it a try as a HTPC since it has Android on it and I would simply have to add a few apps to get it to here I need. Interested to see how it plays 1080P content and Netflix. At the worst I will have a $54.00 door stop...

It only uses about less then 2 watts of power. I guess like 1. Like a cell phone. It can play netflix with installing a app with Chrome on it. Has the play store on it. You can boot it with Chrome or Ubuntu because it has a recovery part on the flash and a tool to flash that or the hole thing. Or just flash the boot and not the recovery and it only boot Ubuntu then.

Still be grate if NASLite could run on it. A fast low power server.

The input/outputs are 3 USB ports but need to use one for power and a USB hub can go on them. It has Wi-Fi too. Some blue tooth. Just output is the HDMI port. It has a 4 core GPU that can play 1080P super good no mess ups on any videos I have play on it.

I seen at about the end of June they will come out with a 4 core one with 2 GB of RAM.

Wow been a long time and they still don't have NASLite to work on ARM.

I got my set up my self on a MK802IV it's a 4 core 2GB RAM HDMI stick. Can flash Ubuntu 13.04 in it's 8GB of Flash RAM so it will just boot to a Ubuntu server or desktop.

Here is some info from the command line: I think it's neat to see.

Code:
root@g8picuntu-MK802IV:~# cat /proc/cpuinfo

It would be nice if they came out with a NASLite for ARM.

The "256GB_as_One" is 2 USB 3.0 128GB flash drives. I paid about $45 for each. So $90 for 256GB of Flash.

Though I sympathize with you and suspect that there would be some small market for such an appliance OS to run on ARM the guys are not likely to roll for it and increase their needed support duties.

That and the fact that there is still a very few pieces of hardware that would actually suite functioning as a NAS makes this fairly unlikely. You could try contacting Tony and Ralph and see if they are actually keen to give it a go and if so how you might help in the process.

With the 4 core HDMI sticks can put Ubuntu on a SD card and with out touching the built in flash with Android on it. It will boot Ubuntu from the SD card. Take it out and back to Android.

Can set up Samba on it and be sort of like NASLite still not as good because NASlite has neat menu's and things.

So in the hardware they put a code to look for a code on the SD card and if it's there boot off it. But only on the 4 core ones the 2 core ones don't have that.

NASLite is nice it is to bad they don't make it for ARM.

I got a nice HDMI stick MK802iv came with Android 4.4 in it's 8GB Flash RAM. But I got a Class 10 speed SD card in it so it boots Ubuntu 14.04.1 I removed the Desktop with commands because just want it to be a server. That way I could update it from 12 to 14 because the desktop in 14 is 3D and don't work with this HDMI stick.

Very low power to run it.

Here is some info on it's log in screen.

I guess NASLite is running on Linux so it my be easy to just use the same Ubuntu I am using for this and mode it for NASLite.

Or just sell a script or something that can turn a Linux box into a nice NASLite box with the log in page and all else.
