Do you know these two preliminary hardware lists?

http://www.serverelements.com/NL26/CORE3-Storage.pdf
http://www.serverelements.com/NL26/CORE3-Network.pdf

ICH7 family is supported.
Onboard NIC is supported.

The only thing you need is a PCI compatible RAID controller, IMHO

BTW: this is a post your working configurations thread -discussion and FAQ elsewhere.....

Any of the reasonable Core2 or new AMD processors will more than meet the needs. The processor is not the really important part of a NAS server. Where you will benefit is in having 2GB of RAM, a good Gigabit NIC, and a quality MB.

Find the parts you want and post up for comment before you buy.

I can confirm to everyone that the small HP MicroServer is working well in my office as NASLite-M2 x64 Server.
Configuration :
(1) bootable CF Card or old IDE SSD Disk connected to the internal SATA port through an IDE to SATA adapter
(2) 4 GB (2x2 GB) of cheap ECC DDR3 Dimms
(3) two Hot-Swappable 2 TB WD Caviar Green HDDs
(4) two Hot-Swappable bays left void for future upgrades
(5) rear e-SATA port left void for future upgrades

Migi.
