I own a IBM 306 8836 xSeries eServer
According to the Hardware guide the Driver should be the tg3
Naslite has installed e1000 driver according to the Diagnostics on the CD

accordingly I am unable to unlock my install because I am unable to connect to the internet.

Any help would be much apreciated

also of note would be that the green light on the either NIC is Steady when pluged into the router. NO blinking.

Ben

Hello Ben,

It is very unlikely that NASLite is loading the incorrect driver. I'm willing to bet that if NASLite loads the Intel driver then that's the NIC you have in in your server. In fact, if you do a little research on your hardware you'll find that IBM requires some hardware (BIOS) modifications in order to prep an IBM x306 for use with linux. Take a look here:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocente ... es_306.htm

The steady green light on your NIC can be caused by a host of reasons such as bad cabling, bad NIC, improper BIOS settings, etc. It will be helpful if the hardware is tested and working prior to assuming an OS issue?

Hope the above is helpful.

According to the IBM Xref, your 8836 uses an Intel chipset board with dual Intel Kenai II nics on it. NASLite is right on with the e1000 driver.

Also of note is that the spec says it has 2 Nics have you tried using the other or setting NasLite to use first/Last in turn to see if that makes any difference remember to save config and reboot after each change to make sure that the change is actioned.

Also the spec looks to me like the second port should be the more able of the two in the way that it is implemented.
