I am thinking to rebuild my Naslite bos. Wants to have a 2+ TB array. My current 8506-8 card won't support anything more then 2TB, so I am looking at the 96xx series card. They have 4x PCIe slot.

My current board is a ECS board with Celeron D that I got from Fry's combo for $50 :-). Have been using them for 2-3 years... works fine. It has integrated graphic and a 16x PCIe slot.

To my knowledge, PCIe slow is backward compatible, you can put a 4X card in a 16X, 8x and 4x slot. My question is, if I put the 96xx card in the 16x slot, will it work? since it was supposed to be for graphic card. Thought guys?

Are you sure that the card will not support a 2TB+ size partition? Have you flashed the BIOS on the card with the latest version?

As a general rule the 4x card should work just fine in the 16X slot.
