Wrapping up the 2.6 installer while Ralph is working on SANLite prototype using CORE3. We'll post some more details soon.

SANLite, I like the sound of that.

What is going to be the link, iSCSI over GigE, FC-AL, SAS/SATA? Are we going to see soft RAID on this one? I assume that there will be support for multicore processors and 64bit in this new roll out. With all the above, performance should still be more than adequate with even the most basic dual core processors.

Itching to setup my iSCSI initiator.

It will support anything the Linux 2.6 kernel does, so if there's a driver for FC or SAS, it will work.
You'll be able to setup software raid from your client, hardware raid will remain the same, SMP will definately be included.

What software RAID manager are you using?

What is going to be the export for the SAN? What I mean by this is that most SANs present the logical drives to the servers via SCSI, FC-AL, SAS, or iSCSI over Ethernet. In some limited cases they may also use plain old Ethernet. I assume that SCSI is out but what about the others?

SANLite will only do iSCSI, advanced version will also add targets for Fiber Channel, SRP, SAS, FCoE, etc.
