Hi,
I am using NASLite-2 USB v2.06 08-2007, which runs Linux 2.4.35.NASLite.

Can anyone confirm if the Promise Sata300 TX4 Controller is compatible with NASLite-2?

Are there any caveats - anything to look out for? I have seen something mentioned about problems with drive enumeration.
(I only need it as an interface for 4 sata hard drives, not as RAID.)

I have been researching for many hours, but have not really found any straight answer yet, and the hardware reference guide seems a bit outdated.

Works perfect.

I use 2x Promise Sata300 TX4 + 4x onboard Sata on an Asus MB.
Mixture of Samsung, WDs and Seagates.
No problems so far - except PSA had to upgrade to BQ 550 pro.

Thanks ldevri,
upon your feedback I have bought two of these controllers. They have installed easily and were available without a hitch.

The only odd thing is the enumeration - (I recall reading about this somewhere as being a Linux oddity):

I had expected for (Sata-) Port 1 to resolve to Disk-0, Port 2 to Disk-1 and so forth.
What I got instead was the following "mapping":
Port 3 > Disk-0
Port 2 > Disk-1
Port 4 > Disk-2
Port 1 > Disk-3
Maybe this helps someone.

I haven't installed the controller on the other box yet, and am curious to see if this is the same order

I just found the links again that describes the problems (with the enumeration) mentioned afore:
http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux ... /0594.html
http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/vi ... 33a801d263
suggested patch: http://marc.info/?l=linux-ide&m=114082978311290&w=2

There seems to have been a change in the wiring of this particular controller, and the kernel does not take into account the "new wiring" of this Promise Sata300 TX4.
Maybe this info helps someone.
