Not formated, just configure the array then move it all to the NASLite box and you should see the array as a drive or drives ready to be formated.

You will need to goto the LSI website to get the utility I used, I don't recall the name off hand and I am not at home right now but it is there.

No luck whatsoever. I formatted the Raid with Gparted to a EXT3 format and naslite still didnt detect any drives.

I figured it out! I downloaded the automated firmware utility from "DELL" and replaced the firmware file in there with the LSI one and the drives showed up just like normal. Just for everyones info if you didnt know already, The Dell firmware is not compatible with the NL Raid drivers for this card. you must use the firmware from LSI to use it in NL.

this forum post will help you out.

Excellent find Joe - well done in tracking the error and finding the solution!

Now, how is it performing for you? (Some DiskWriggler results would be nice ;))

I could tell you that I have Teracopy on my Windows PC and I get 11 MB/s to the NL which is exactly the same as before. for the old NT server I get about 400 KB/s so there is a huge improvement.

NL is:
800 mhz PIII
384mb Ram
Megaraid 4i 3xWD500gb Drives Raid5
100mb 3com nic

NT Server is:
Windows Server NT 4.0
900 mhz AMD
1 gb ram
2xseagate 72gb drives raid1
100mb intel nic
