Hello all RAID users (or planners):

I thought I wanted to share something I just discovered ... this may or may not apply to any issues any one of you may or may not have had ... (big disclaimer ?), but technically interesting nevertheless (and seems like trustworthy enough source) ...

Yep, good link Georg.

I would also add that the drives you want to be using are known as NS or Near line Storage drives. These are SATA drives that are designed to work in an array with other drives. There are technical reasons for the differences that I will not go into here but there are differences under the hood. The nice thing about them is that they carry a 5 year warranty and are generally more reliable. I only use these types of drives and have yet to have a failure.
