Steve, What you quoted are mirror (rsync) numbers and those are compressed, and likely local and not network bandwidth numbers. Unless you got another box you are mirroring from. That has nothing to do with what you are looking for so don't use it as a network performance indicator.

BTW Mike, always learning something from your posts man. Port multiplication was news to me. Explains experiences i've had in the past.

I looked at the south bridge chip used on his motherboard and it looks like there are only 2 controllers for each set of three SATA ports in their "RAID" implementation. I would not expect performance from it anywhere comparable to the likes of a hardware RAID card like the 3Ware, LSI, Promise, Adaptec,or any of the others out there in the SAS/SATA RAID controller market.

There are number of SAS/SATA fan out chip makers, it is not so much of an issue with the 3Gb/sec SATAII interface but can become an issue with the 1.5Gb/sec SATAI with 2 or more fast drives like the Raptors.
