I've read some of the threads, and from what I've gathered the best kit for home use is the ASUS Terminator T1-C3. But I'm worried b/c it only has two SATA ports. I expect there will be no room for a daughterboard in that case; is there a way to get more SATA slots on this kit, or should I look at another kit if I plan to expand past two?

Thanks.

I don't know how chunky the PSU is on the Terminator, but adding lots of drives might be a no-no.

Yeah I'm thinking maybe two 1TB drives in the SATA slots and one small drive in the IDE slot to host the OS?

Maybe I should build one from the ground up so I can use a bigger enclosure? Just not sure what type of mobo and CPU to get.

You don't need anything really powerfull
A dual core is over the top and I believe that more than 1 GB of memory is to. (NickC has a mighty setup, but I think it's overkill)

for home use you want something that can run smoothly but cool and perhaps silent, so amd with their 'cool&quiet' springs to mind.
but anything could do

in your current setup, you could add some more sata ports with a pci card
Just make sure you check in the hardware reference guide witch controller chip is supported under naslite
