Hi,

In case someone searches for informations on the D-Link DGE 528T Gigabit LAN card, it is NOT compatible with NASLite 2.05 version.

Regards.

Well, here is some strange information:

The d-Link web site tells me that the DGE-528T chipset is Realtek RTL8139D. When I look in the NASLite reference pdf file, I see that "RTL8139 Ethernet" is supported. I can also see that the "RTL8139c Ethernet" is supported too.

How come my card DGE-528T with a RTL8139D chipset is NOT supported? Is the final "D" of the chipset ref the reason of the non-recognition?

Best regards.

i discovered the same problem when i originally setup my nas almost a year ago now i think. an intel pro/1000 is your best bet; they're priced within dollars of each other so it's not a major investment.

I found out the hard way it doesn't work. Any chance the next release will support it? :?:

Been a long time since I have posted here but this info is always useful.

I personally have never had allot of luck with any of the Realtek based cards, regardless of the maker, moving data reliably and not locking up after a time

On the other hand the cards from 3Com and Intel seem to be just bullet proof and work great! I have used both with equally great results.

I use the 3Com 3C996SX and it works great. Really fast card and reliable mover of data with no lost packets so far.

The difference in price of the good cards compared to the crappy ones is to small to even think of so get the good 3Com or Intel cards.

Mike
