Hello All,

I'm a NooB here so please bear with me. Looking to build my first NASLite-USB server and just wanted to check if the following hardware would work or not?

CASE: Morex 668 Venus Black (Customised)
MOBO: Jetway J7F4 1.2GHz Eden
RAM: 1 GB DDR2 400
CADDIE: Icy Dock MB-455SPF 3 x 5.25" Bays 5 SATAII HDD Hotswap
RAID CARD: ADAPTEC (DELL) 2610SA 64MB 6port SATA RAID Controller
RAID: DRIVES: 5x500 GB WD5000YS RE2 SATAII - RAID5 + Hot Spare
PSU: Ituner PW200M - 200W Fanless DC-DC PSU

Will be installing NASLite 2-USB onto CF card via USB and then into a IDE to CF adapter.

Thanks In Advance
Jamie

200W PSU may be pushing it for all those drives?

Looked up the specs for the Mobo and power reqs are only 9W. Also looked up the power specs for the drives and it says 10.75W per drive. These add up to approx 75 W so i've got about 125W to play with (hopefully) for the RAM, RAID card & Network adapter. Should be ok. If not i'll have to buy either a larger PSU with a fan on it and swap it out or look for a good fanless PSU that'll fit that case, not sure if Zalman do one.

Anyone fancy checking my figures?

Thanks
Jamie

You've omitted the power consumption of the processor, and I'm going to side with jmiliz on the drives - I think you're going to need more than 200W.

I don't recall if the Dell/Adaptec 2610 allows for sequential spin up of the drives, but if it doesn't you're looking at approximately 120W ~ 180W on the 12V line at startup to get those drives turning

The MOBO is a jetway with an embedded CPU so i think 9w was the total for the MOBO & CPU.

might be touch and go
but I think it will be sufficient

I got my nas box running on a 235W psu
In it I got 4x 400 GB hd in raid 5 on a LSI card, 1x 250 GB hd on the
secondary IDE channel, a 120mm fan on my 4-in-3 device module
and a PCI video card that drives an 11" tft display (display
gets it power from the vga-card)

Didn't have any issues with it
But I did change the psu after a couple of moths for something heavier
Just for peace of mind though
