Hello all:

Situation: Gigabit LAN, up for 11 hours, approx 3.3GB received and 3GB sent. No other error messages in SysLog or at console.

Network status shows:

e1000: eth0: e1000_probe: Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection
e1000: eth0: e1000_watchdog: NIC Link is Up 1000 Mbps Full Duplex
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr

inet addr:192.168.1.24 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

Base address:0xa400 Memory:f2000000-f2020000

Is this anything to worry about ? If there are errors like this logged, do they get automatically corrected ? Or is there potential for data loss or corruption in the files having ben received and saved on the NL Server ? The Mobo supports ECC RAM -- is an upgrade from non-ECC warranted or recommended ?

TIA.

:) Georg

That’s nothing to worry about. It is possible for such errors to sometime occur due to high network load or other noise. All such error means is that a packet had to be resent. Occasional occurrence is not a cause for concern.
