I need to go out for a USB Flash drive to set up NASLite-2 USB with my Packard Bell Bora Pro MB, AMI BIOS (2.96). What size should it be (256 Mb ?) and is there a prefered model to boot from? (or any to avoid?).

Many thanks, as always, Jeffjohn

Hi Jeffjohn,

You could fit Naslite on a 32MB device, But the smaller sizes are hard to find. I use this http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/partspe ... CT256MBUFD works fine. you could always try that old mp3 player laying around. Some USB dont boot so beware. I am sure there was a post in the Hardware section of bootable usb pens. you could if you have these laying around try a Card reader and a Compact Flash card to boot the nas, again some card readers dont work.

I use a 32MB SanDisk Cruzer Mini and it works fine. You should be able to pick those up cheap if you can find them.

Again, make sure the board supports booting from USB before you buy.

If it doesn't boot from USB you can boot off a kicker floppy disk. Working fine for me.

Thanks fellas! Packard Bell PC with BoraPro MB did not show USB in the BIOS Boot selection so I presume it is not bootable directly.
First USB stick had a partitioned 'A' drive utility; so no luck. Found a really cheap (free) mini USB Flash drive and tried that with kicker disk and it all worked straight away. Brilliant really! jeffjohn
