At work we've been struggling with a PC problem at one of our customers sites that is kicking our butt. I know there are several IT guys that hang out here, so I thought I'd throw it out here just in case one of you guys have ran across something similar. OK, here's the deal...last Sept. we installed an XP box in the office of a grocery store where they do their daily file maintenance, reports, etc...we have a bunch of these same boxes out with no issues at all. The problem........after anywhere from 2 to 10 days the PC will show a 'degraded array' in the RAID console utility. We have to replace the hdd(SATA drive) and resync the drives...then it''ll be okay for another week or so. We've had 2 or 3 different PC's in there...we've plugged everything into PowerVar UPS/conditioners....reloaded PC from scratch....and the thing is still crashing drives. PowerVars are plugged into IG receptacles, as are all POS devices.....drives still crash. From what I understand, the failed drives can be reformatted and seem to check out ok...so the drives aren't being physically damaged. To make matters worse....this site is 2hours away.....any and all input would be appreciated.
