I am running NASLite-2 USB on an Asus P4P800 with BIOS boot from USB. Started with a 3ware 7500-4 with four IDE drives configured as two Raid 1 mirrors. Worked good with everything recognized. Added an Adaptec 2610SA with 6 WD2500YD SATA drives configured as a Raid 5 on five drives with the sixth drive as a hot spare. The array initialized OK but I cannot see it in NASLite to format it.

The 2610SA was installed in the motherboard without any drives when I setup NASLite.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Tom

Try the card in a different PCI slot.

Thanks for the reply. I tried another PCI slot and removed the 3ware card. The array is still not seen by NASLight.

Is there anything besides initializing the array that I need to do in the Adaptec utility?

Thanks

Tom

I too have a problem with the 2610SA. I've built the array in the adaptec bios utility. Unfortunatly NASlite does not detect it at all. Not at boot or subsequently.

Confused :(

Any ideas as to why this may be happening to us?

Pete.

I installed Ubuntu and have the 2610SA array working OK so it is not a hardware problem.

It appears your problem is not because you are using two raid cards but because the 2610SA may not be supported. I took a quick look at the hardware guide and didn't see it listed.

It is listed under Hardware RAID Controller Devices - as the Dell CERC SATA 6 - and unless I'm mistaken, Adaptec never sold that card retail (which is probably why you don't find it under Adaptec) and I've only seen it remarketed by Dell.

It's essentially a six port version of the Adaptec 2410SA which is listed and available retail as well as through IBM (ServeRAID 7T) and I believe HP/Compaq & Gateway.

Also listed are it's bigger siblings - the 2810SA & 21610SA.
