Before V2 life was simple. :)
Find an old PC, start throwing in drives as space requirements grew and when there were no more IDE ports, start thinking of getting another old PC and so on....

With V2 however life has just become exiting....

We can now have RAID5 many terrabytes of storage.... so how do we do it while keeping the Bank account balances safe?

3ware seem to have a lot of models to choose from.

After having a look at eBay there seem to be a lot of models, especially the previous generations 5800, 7500, 7410 8500/8506 ranges at reasonable prices.

In my mind the main difference between the current 9500S range and previous models is OCE.

There are also various models that are differentiated depending on the type of PCI bus they should be installed in PCI 66MHz, PCI-X, 64bit, PCI 2.2, PCI99 etc.... :?

If one chooses to get an older model to use in an older PC PII with plain PCI 32bit slots (PCI 2.1 according to NASlite) are there any guidelines on what to stay away from? 3ware Documentation is not very clear on this and more or less says that they are compatible with a lowly 32bit PCI slot.

Although I raised the OCE question in another post, is OCE workable with NASlite v2 thus justifying paying the extra cash for a 9500 series card or is it wasted thus better off getting an older 8500 model?

Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.
