I searched around but didn't find anything that helped

Trying out my "Giga-Byte GA-686LX3 " P2 mobo w/ a kicker disk

I've tried 3 different ones but all have the same problem

Starts to boot from the floppy
Outputs "Starting Caldera DR-DOS..."
Then beeps as it fills my screen w/ the same garbage every time

I tried a pci usb card... same problem

Any suggestions?

I take it that the software is loaded on the flash usb? did that side of things go to plan? you configured as a superfloppy.

you tried 3 of the same versions of kicker or all different ones.

can you test the kicker on another pc to see if it outputs the same junk?

could the floppy be damaged?

there are other versions of kicker posted on this forum.

My work around was to take the USB key and create an image of it and then burn it to a CDROM. You still have to leave in the USB key for the config data but it works just fine.

Yes everything went ok making the flash disk into a super floppy.

I used 3 different kickers (naslite, Iomega, and Novac) several times and on different floppies. All w/ the same result on my nas computer.

They did work fine on my main computer.

That is good to know. An image of the super floppy or partition?
I'll do that if all fails but I would like to get the cdrom out of the computer.

3 32mb sticks... tried swapping them out to test for bad ram... still no luck.

I've been using naslite+1.5 cd since it came out w/ no problems.

But v2 came out so i tried the usb edition of v2.

Right so your using Naslite v2. Being as you posted here I thought this a v1.5 problem.

So does the floppy fully boot, what happens if you remove the usb device then just boot the floppy do you get the output in the picture?

did you use the kicker on the v2 CD rom?

Yah sorry about that... Its not a naslite problem but a kicker problem.

This is what happens when the floppy boots, even without the nas usb.

Yes I did try the v2 kicker.... same thing.

mikeiver1 workaround did work so naslite is fine... just my board wont boot the kicker floppy right.

Straight after Starting Caldera DR-DOS is displayed the USB drivers are loaded you should see the ASPI manager, why its screws up is puzzling me, the other kickers are much the same these only the usb drivers are different.

Its working :D
I still don't know why.

Got my controller card in the mail ''Promise Ultra133 TX2 ATA/133"

Installed it w/ 4 hdd's, tried to boot from the cd-rom.... failed :(

For some reason my mobo would only boot from hdds on the card.

Tried to boot up a floppy I had when I was surprised to see NasLite booting.

I had accidentally put a kicker I had into the floppy and for some reason booted just fine.

Now everything is working smoothly :D :D :D

I am still curious why the kicker wouldn't boot before I put the controller card in. Any ideas?
