Hi
I'm already running Naslite+ booting from a USB flash drive, but i'm looking to build a quieter system based on an Epia fanless board.
I've been looking at the BIOS setup on the Manuals for the Epia 5000 & 6000 boards, but i only lists USB Floppy, USB Zip, USB CDrom etc & nothing which resembles my current board setup.
I assume that these boards will boot from a flash drive as i've noticed other members using them, but which setting would i use, and as anyone encountered any problems?

Cheers

I have M1000 running a linux server, and last summer, I did test the USB Boot with DSL--bootable usb linux. I run the server remote now and I do not recall whether the BIOS settings has USB Floppy boot but I think that the Epia boards should boot from USB in general.

Got my Epia board installed today, booted up first go on USB-HDD boot option. Lucky guess!!
NASLite just doing a disk check ATM, and files all available as before.

I'll probably run it a few days before i commit too much data.

Can't wait for Ver 2.

Only problem i did have with the Epia board is that the USB ports on the back of the board are very close to the VGA connector and the USB key i'm using is quite wide and wouldn't fit, so i had to use a USB extension cable.

Has the board a usb header on the MB if so you could connect a usb cable here and keep it internal.

Yes it has, just thought of that myself today DOH!!. I didn't fit the cable when i built it as i didn't think i'd need it, but i'm now taking the USB key out once it's booted. Might go back to leaving it in and fit the cable - i'll probably lose the USB key if i don't.

Or if you have card reader and some Compact Flash you could remove the floppy if you have one and replace with a card reader and boot from this device, the card reader being connected to the usb header on the mother board.

I am pretty sure it would fit.

or if you have a spare ide slot, you can run a CF ide converter or a disk on module.
