Hi

just upgraded to v1.5, and NASbox will not boot if hds are inserted.

Without them, no problem. But with hds connected, boot hangs at "verifying dmi pool data". By hangs, I mean freezes. I have to switch the pc off to interrupt it.

I burned several install CDs, changed cdrom drive, changed cables, disabled SMART.

Unfortunately, I have lost my NASLite+ licence so I cannot try with my old NASLite+ v1.2.

suggestions?

I have found another HD that wasn't previously in the NAS box.

I have erased it on the mac, then booted NAS box with this one HD connected. NASLite boots ok, I format the new drive, which should available after a reboot.

Reboot hangs at "verify dmi pool data"

Is there something wrong with v1.5?

just found the v1.4 image and reburned an install cd.

install ok, but once hd connected, boot hangs at the same stage.

I'm starting to fear for the worst. How is it possible that all 3 of my drives are failing? I have tried to boot with each drive in turn. All boots hanged at the same point.

I would really need your input at this point.

thanks a lot

"verify dmi pool data" is a BIOS message and has absolutely nothing to do with the software you are running. In other words, it makes no difference if you are trying to boot NL+ 1.2 or NL+ 1.5 or Win32. That said, my guess is that your BIOS is improperly configured or your drives are improperly jumpered. Those are the most likely scenarios, but i'm guessing.

For a comprehensive look at what you may need to do, take a peek at this guide: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000474.htm.

Hope that helps.

thanks Tony.

I have figured out the problem in the meantime. I *simply* had to clear the CMOS. Very simple: power off computer, unplug power cord for security, put CMOS jumper from 2/3 to 1/2 then 2/3 again.

It's aaaall back to normal.

I am really sorry about all the hassle, I am not a very advanced PC user and being a macuser not used to fiddle with CMOS or BIOS either.

I still have to figure out why the mac doesn't connect in nfs, but at least I have a NAS box to fail to connect to

Cheers
