In case you were wondering "whatever happened" ... this is the WD-160gb hard drive that would not install in NASLite, but works fine as a Windows External USB drive. After externally formatting it to Ext2 NASLite accepted it, but it showed that 15 of 21 SMART tests showed continuous read errors. Well, after the last round of attempts to fix the drive (about a month ago), I just left the drive in NASLite with no file activity. Over the last month, the drive has "fixed itself", that is, one-by-one over the weeks each of the errored SMART test results corrected to "Completed" with no reported problems. It now reports error free.

Grumpa,

Hey you never gave up! I like that. Well the drive had a mind of its own!
who said computers would take over the world?

Well what a saga you had, so when are you going to trust data to the drive? or are you going to look at it a little bit longer.

How do you think it would cope with a powerloss? not recomended but one way to see if you loose the drive again..
before you stick your data on.

Eden
