NASLite Network Attached Storage

OK everyone I need some help. I transferred to a new MOBO to modernize my NASLite Server. When NASLite USB starts to boot everything comes to a quick halt and the screen shows:
<0> Kernel Panic: Attempted to kill Init
<3> pc_keyb: controller jammed (0x15)
---
Any ideas what is happening?

Well it looks to me like a keyboard problem, Have you got one plugged in?
and what MB is it.

Edeng: Thanks for the reply. It is a brand new MSI PM8M-V MoBo ... I tried 3 different KBs ... this is the 3rd MoBo of this type I bought, the other 2 just fine.
Don't know ... ?

Edeng: I just threw a CD-ROM and old hard disk in, and have no problem loading Windows 2000 OS ... keyboard is fine too. ????

Hello Grumpa,

There are a number of things you should probably try. First, in the BIOS, disable ACPI, all unncessary devices (LPT, COM, AUDIO, etc.). Take a look for a USB keyboard setting and try booting with that disabled.

Often newer boards are populated with many devices that require an IRQ. Many boards accomodate those hardware devices with shared IRQs.

Stuff like FireWire, IR, etc...

Anyway, hope that helps...

Tony: Thaks for the help. For the record with ACPI disabled, NASLite will not boot, the same with disabling anything USB related. Everything that can be disabled has been. I still get the identical errors after the boot is about half way.

How is the KBD connected ... USB or PS/2 ? Try PS/2 if not already.

I've had a few problems with Mouse Drivers if Mouse is connected to USB ... might happen with KBDs too. If your KBD is USB you can get a cheap connector that converts it to PS/2 (the purple connector on the MoBo) like I have done with Mouse (the green PS/2 connector on MoBo).

georg: I've tried many keyboards and mice - USB - PS/2 ... since I've also tried every Bios setting imaginable I just don't know where to go with this problem. New MoBo too ...

Edeng: Thanks for the research and "lite reading". From what I read two things pop up that are significant.
1. Disable legacy USB in Bios (did it - can't boot at all).
2. An update in kernel versions (beyond me) ... but I did cut this quote:

The only backdraw I've noticed so far is the problem that the kernel

I won't be using this new MoBo w/SATA capability (preparing for v2) if I can't get past this glitch.

In the pnp section in the bios how is the resources set? manual or auto.

I am having a very similar problem, have been running very succesfully with a 333mhz PIII and a kicker disk. Decided to upgrade to an HP DX2000 Celeron 2.2ghz system with 4 x 320gb drives in it.

Comes up with the Kernel Panic error when formatting the USB Stick with the SuperFlopy option and comes up with a USBX: INT13 message and halts when using the other option.

Have tried disabling Parallel, Serial, Legacy USB support etc in the bios but does not seem to make any difference.

Scoobs: I never found the cause of the Kernel Panic problem, and just used the MoBo for another PC. I disabled everything I could find - anything with an IRQ was freed up ... I concluded, after 6 days, (rightly or wrongly) that the new MoBo and NASLite were not compatible, and wouldn't play nice together.

I was using the keyboard with the old system so it definately isn't that. I may just end up having to use the old machine again.
