People seem to be having lot's of trouble with Maxtor drives, see
http://www.serverelements.com/phpBB2/vi ... 188b888d69
So why? What's so different about a Maxtor compared to say my Seagate's Maxtors are an obvious choice, and they're a little cheaper than the Seagate's well with ebuyer they are anyway. But why do so many people have problems? If your using NASlite on an old pc the the chances are you didn't really want to throw lot's of money at it so you would be a bit miffed

if your new £100 Maxtor drive didn't work. Anyone got any theories as to what could be causing the problems? Or is it purely that Maxtor drives are the most popular so consequently more problems show up with them cos more people use them.
I'll stick with Seagate's,

I've put Seagates in 99% of the pc's i've built, and thats over 50 now and I've only had one disk failure and that was my sisters hdd that wouldn't reboot after they moved house, and if I'm honest I don't believe it was the hard drive failing I think it was more likely the been thrown around in a big cardboard box whilst travelling between old house to storage to new house

you know how some people think pc's will travel like a sofa, they're not the same as the black box in a plane guys

If I move house the pc's are in the car with me and the a/v stuff is going in the wife's car

The rest of the stuff can go in the back of the van
