jweaks,

You could try setting your switch from "Autodetect" (most common default) to 100 MB speed. Never really heard of Davicom, but I've always gone with the Intel PRO 100 cards in all of my systems. MAybe try digging around on Davicom related forums for any information.

jweaks,

here is your answer, you need a 10/100 card.

http://www.davicom.com.tw/eng/products/dm9009.htm

two nice nic cards that work great are Netgears FA311(10/100) and GA311 (10/100/1000

that is weird... so even though this card is marked 10/100 fast ethernet, it really isn't a 10/100 card? It's just a 10?

I'll have to try some different cards. I don't have a netgear, but I have a couple on hand I can try. We'll see what happens.

thanks,
jweaks

jweaks,

if you look here http://www.davicom.com.tw/eng/products.htm
10M Ethernet Chipsets section you will see it listed there.

I switched over to a 3COM card I had on hand. Now my diskbench test says 7.4 at worst and around 9.7 MB/s at best.

...way up from the zero point something I was getting.

oh and since I had to reboot.. I suspect the SMART tests are running now.

Is 7.5 - 9.5 good?
