I am wanting to take a current NasLite Drive and put it into a Windows Box.

What is the format of the Nas drive so I can convert it to a windows drive.

Anyone know of a easy way to do this otherwise then copying everything over from one drive to another?

Thanks

The file system type for NAS drives is ext2. If you want to transfer the data the best way to do it is to copy the data to a windows drive first while the NASLite drive is still in the NASLite+ box.

There is a utility called ext2fsd which can be found at http://ext2fsd.sourceforge.net that might allow you to see the contents of the drive but it would need to be connected directly to the IDE connectors. You might be able to connect it to an external USB box but that depends on whether or not the USB box requires reformatting before you can use it. If it doesn't, then the ext2fsd utility should allow you to see the drive under windows (read-only mode).

I have had some success reading and writing to NASLite formated drives using the Installable File System driver available here

http://www.fs-driver.org/index.html

it allows windows to see, read and write to ext2 formated linux disks, also useful if you are dual booting Windows and Linux (with ext2 formatted partitions, doesn't work with reiser).

best of luck
