Is defragmentation possible, or needed? I have a bunch of video files being streamed from my NASLite+ USB ... every so often I get a "hiccup" or two watching the videos that I do not get if the files are on a Windows host PC.
Thanks.

Defragmentation is really not an issue with NASLite since it uses ext2 filesystem. What it does do however is check filesystem integrity at boot time and corrects any problems that may need attention.

The "hiccup" can be caused by the info pages generator that regenerates the info pages every 5 minutes. On most machines that is not a problem, but in some cases it can be noticed.

Hope that helps...

Can the info page generator be configured not to update so often, or not at all? That would be great since I plan on using my NASLite+ server as a repository for my video files. Thanks. :D

Thanks for the reply, and Happy New Year.
Should I periodically re-boot my NASLite box to attend to "fixing anything that might need to be cared for"? If so, how frequently, and would it be possible to schedule a middle of the night "maintenance re-boot"?
Thanks.

In 1.x it's fixed at 5min and can't be changed. 2.x will address the problem.

Not really necessary. Maintenance reboots once in a while when you clean the machine off (dust, etc.) should suffice.
