Just purchased the usb version of NasLite+.
Great piece of software!!! Works fairly well.
I have a old motherboard with USB that won't support USB boot and the Kicker disk worked perfectly!!
I found an old 32MB USB key, I was not using anymore.
I had a bit of a problem creating the USB superfloppy, I think you can only have one CDrom installed on the system, your creating the superfloppy on... As it kept saying it could not mount the cd, until I switched to a single CD system.
Couple of questions though....
1.) The naslite webpage for the mounted hard drive shows UDMA66, My motherboard is a ATA100 (VIA KT133a chipset), and my hard drive is a ATA100 seagate 250GB. Does UDMA66 mean my hardrive is running at ATA66??? Or is UDMA and ATA just different specs??
2.) When I tried to stream a DIVX file to a different PC, it would play fine unless you paused it, and pressed play again.
The video would be choppy, and I could hear the NAS hard disk seeking continuously.
Could this be a function of not enough RAM?? (I have 128MB PC100 SDRAM) Slow Hard disk speed?? Network speed??
Any suggestions??
3.) Can the USB key be removed once the machine is running??
4.) One feature I would like to see is a scheduled shutdown option.
Then I could run my NAS on a timer and only have it going when I am home.
Thanks
Randy
