I am looking to add some security to my NAS box. I don't think this would be too complicated as it is just a linux distro. Has anyone tried this or does anyone know how to get into the root user. This question goes out to the moderator too. I don't want to hack NAS I just need some extra security features.

Any help would be great.

I believe (if you read though the forums) this topic was already covered. Basically implementing authentification is difficult across multiple platforms, each handles their own protocalls differently. But, you can run another PC with the NAS drives mounted or mapped to the NAS and authenticate through that computer.
