Propose to use an HP laptop as the server. Screen and battery failed so thought it might be ideal.

Am having difficulty getting the CD to boot. Bios set to read CD first.
Copied iso file on to cd, nothing.
Copied iso file on to cd as bootable CD and after loading a number of drivers in dos mode, leaves the prompt at A.
Tried on another laptop and CD not booting.

Re downloaded the lite+ file and copied etc, no change.
Have browsed through the forum and plenty of you guys know much more than I do so......
Any thoughts anyone?

Ok what you are doing wrong is copying the ISO to the CD.

The ISO contains the structure of the Disk files folders etc.
What you need to do is actually burn the ISO, on your burning program say Nero burning rom is cancel the wizard if its running select recorder then burn image locate the iso and your done.

if you have still have problems post the name of the burning app and i'll explain the process.

Another thing, Because you dont have a screen to configure naslite, you will need to telnet to it, providing the IP is in your range (router) or boot naslite on another pc and change the IP and save to floppy then use the cd and floppy on the laptop.

Hi Edeng

Thanks for the support on this. I waited until the machine had run a few days and had been re-booted a few times before coming back.

All seems to be fine and am very pleased with the way it seems to working.

My only concern now is that the laptop seems to get pretty warm. Wll sit it on a "heat sink" (sheet of aluminium) to help keep cool.

All the best

If you turn NASLite SMART support OFF and set your BIOS to spin down the drives, you can reduce heat by a fair amount.
