Purchased the Server Suite last night. Had a working NAS in about 15 minutes - so easy!

I am planning on about 500 Gigs (2x250) on my NL+ server. It is an Athlon 1100 with 512 Megs RAM.

I am new to Linux and would like to know if putting more RAM in this box will offer any benefit?

Thanks for a great product and for any additional info on this,
Bill

Hi,

I'd say you have more then enough. Naslite+ pnly uses 8MB ram. if you only had 16 or 32 id say stick some more in, as certain task will use more.

Generally. NASlite is very happy with about 128M of RAM. The rules change accordingly as the NASlite server must service lots of simultaneous users. Obviously, the more simultaneous users, the more RAM is required. As a general rule, an average of 2M to 4M is required per user, so with 512M, I’d say you are definitely set.
