I have a NASLite+ v1.4 installation with two new WD 250GB drives. It works fine, for the most part, but sporatically throughout the day I get random "HDA not ready" "waiting for DMA" errors. Has anyone else seen this? How can I disable DMA, if it is not supported?

Regarding the issue above, it seems to be occuring more frequently now.. virtually within a couple hours of a boot. Here's the specific error messages:

hda: device not ready for command
hda: status timeout: status = 0x80 {Busy}

hdb: device not ready for command
hdb: status timeout: status = 0x80 {Busy}

hda: dma_timer_expiry dma status = 0x61
hda: error waiting for DMA

HELP.

I have invested a little time and have moved these drives and the NASLite+ software & configuration to a new server in order to rule out an issue with the mainboard, RAM, power supply, etc in the original system. Will advise.

Ok.. it's been a couple hours since I booted up on the new server... all seems well... I'll post an update in the next day or so, but it looks like the problem was related to the box that I had the drives in, not the NASLite software.

I've had the message "hda: error waiting for DMA " quite often and I suspect hardware, I am also probably going to upgrade my server hardware. Please post if you get the errors with the new hardware

They system ran through the night with no errors (nearly 12 hours now). I believe my problem was related to the something in the RAM on the other box. I have had issues before trying to run another OS on that box.

wilbur -- I would suggest moving your drives and the NASLite+ configuration over to another box and see if that solves your problem.

All is well with my NASLite+ machine now. If you have DMA issues, check your NASLite+ installation on another set of hardware. It fixed my problems.
