Hello
I would appreciate any help with my problem.
I am trying to setup NASLite+ with a 300GB HDD and it is refusing to recognize it as 300GB.
I know several of you had no problem with installing NASLite+ on a large HDD and it baffles me why I can't.
I have tried it on 3 Motherboards and failed all.
Only 32GB is recognized always.
HDD is 300GB with 16MB cache from Maxtor.

Do I need to do something special before setting up NASLite+?
Like formatting the HDD with Linux file system?

And yes, I did try disabling bios to recognize the HDD, so NASLite+ will do it directly.
It didn’t work.

Any comment or suggestion will be appreciated.
Thanks you.

The first place id check would the the Jumpers on the HD. you may have it set to 32GB Clip mode / CLJ mode. Refer to the jumper settings on the drive or locate these on the internet.

or post the model and i'll find out for you.

try this..

the jumper settings u need will be just master or slave.. set you jumpers as you see in the link

http://service.maxtor.com/rightnow/imag ... umpers.htm

one more thing if u had the jumper set to clip mode, reconfigure the drive in naslite.

good luck

let us know how u get on

Hello!
Thanks a bunch for the help!

According to that Maxtor Jumper setting chart, my HDD is "style A2."
Jumper is set to "Master" and has been that way.

The HDD is DiamondMax 10 and Model Number is 6B300R0.
http://maxtor.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/maxt ... faqid=2455

Only time when I can utilize whole 300GB is using the MaxBlast 4 and installing
something called "Dynamic Drive Overlay) then installing Wondows XP.
No matter what kind of linux distro I throw at it, I couldn't get it to recognize whole 300gb.
Always 32GB... Bah!

Thanks again.

I can't offer any help towards sorting out your problem with the Maxtor drive but I have a 400GB seagate drive in my NASbox and it shows up as 396GB or something like that and works fine.

Will be putting in another shortly but I think I'll stick with Seagate

Good luck with sorting yours out though
