Hi guys,

I've had NASLite+ 1.2 (CD-rom) for about a week on a Dell Dimension 2200 (stock hardware with 60GB drive added) all seemed to be working well with short bursts of activity achiving 85% of 100mb bandwidth then just last night I attempted a large copy of about 20GB from my laptop to it and the above message was on the console screen this morning. I have rebooted the nas and tried again put again it fails after some time (not straight away)

If it helps i was coping with XPpro to the nas as an ftp network place (that seems to be 15% faster than \\nas\disk-4)

Is this indicating a hardware fault on the NIC of the Dell? I cant get to the syslog via the the web management pages to understand more

Also I did notice that one of the files that was in the batch to be transfered -(although it did not get that far)is a 10gb file but I understand that 4gb is the maximum file size.

Could you confirm what happens in this case. Does it fail the copy process entirely or just miss or truncate that file?

Best Regards,

Jason

I have only FTPed files larger then 4 GB. and not tested what happens using SMB. I'd suggest ftping the files and see if its works.

Or Split the 10 in to a smaller size.

Which ftp software do you use for 4g files or larger?

Jcoyne,

Can you please post the sys_log 6 minutes after an error? This is definitely a hardware issue, but it may be easily corrected with some IRQ manipulation via the BIOS.

For starters, i'd disable any and all devices on the NASlite server that you are not using. Things like LPT, COM, USB, Sound, etc. That should open IRQs in case there is a conflict.

The only way out is to reboot via the console as telnet and www service can not be accessed so I dont think I can supply the sys_log. I have disabled all other devices and have taken out the AGP video card and have left it with the single on-board card VGA.

FYI, I dont use any external ftp software just the windows "add a network place" but then say "ftp://192.168.x.x"

Regards,

Jason

This is the sys_log now. I did note that on-boad sound, serial port and NIC where sharing IRQ10 (works ok in windows XP) I have now disabled sound and serial port.

Jason

With sound/serial/parrallel ports disabled it failed again with the same error. I cant disable the nic on this machine but I can move the IRQ so I will try this.

So now this is the new sys_log
