Just found NasLite+ through a reference in another forum and I have to say the software looks pretty good. After a brief search through the forums, I still have a few questions before I commit to purchase.
1 - Reading through the manual it states that all drives are mounted individually as a share. Is there any way to mount them all through a single share point? I would be using this as a storage server for video files on my home HTPC and a single share would be easier to manage on that side. I also have no interest in transporting drives from one NASlite+ box to another.
2 - Can additional drives be added at a later time?
3 - Combining 1 & 2 above, if the answer to 1 is yes, how difficult is it to add additional drives to the single share point?
4 - Can the system manage more than 4 drives if an additional IDE controller is installed? (I think I found a refernce that this is not possible at present but am not sure if this has changed in recent releases.)
These questions might just show off that I have limited Linux experience and knowledge. Apologies in advance! Thanks for your help.
Rich

I'll take a stab at this:

1. No. Each drive is mounted individually.

2. NASLite will mount up to 4 drives in the NAS server. I don't know if you can physically have more than 4 drives in the server without causing problems, but NASLite will only mount a maximum of 4. You can add or remove drives at any time; NASLite will mount what it finds when it boots.

3. Since the answer to #1 is "No," this question is moot.

4. No, the system cannot mount more than 4 drives. See #2 above.

No, but it would be a great enhancement - see my post here - http://www.serverelements.com/phpBB2/vi ... 81f72b89a8

Very easily. Add the drive, from the menu, select format, etc.

This is not available currently. The devs have stated it is in the cards but who knows when. It is clearly the natural evolution at some point though IMHO.
