NASLite Network Attached Storage

Hi..

I've got two naslite+ servers which I intend to place in my garage (downstairs from my main machine)..

I am going to run a 1 cable down there.. which will be plugged into my netgear router / hub which is upstairs..

If I then plug the other end of the cable into the uplink port of another (netgear) hub, then run a cable to this hub from each of the two servers, am I right in thinking that this would work fine.. with the (upstairs) router being able to see both machines ??

your cabling sounds ok however....

if you use a router at one end you may have a problem as NasLite does not have a default gateway and wont route between two subnets.

If you use a switch or a hub it will work fine.

p.s. general rule of thumm..


pc to pc = cross cable
hub to hub = straight cable

however many hubs and switches can autodetect and deal with cross cables.

Basically if you get link light on your pc or device you are fine
