I know that NL+ does not support PCI controller cards yet, but does anyone know if it supports motherboard with two ide controllers (such as MSI 925XE Neo Platinum) where the second controller would normally be used for a raid configuration but can also handle 4 ide drives seperatly. This would be great for a 8 disk system. or if the Raid was done by hardware and nas could see this as a single drive.

Thanks

Check my sig... on my motherboard I have the 2 IDE adapters (4 drives blus an IDE that can work in conjunction with 2 serial ATA drives in a raid aray) while that is my home system might be a bit pricey for a NAS dont ya think?

Yes but if you can get the 2 ide controllers working with NASlite that would give you 8 drives and with current ide drives at 400g that would be a nice 3.2 terabytes of storage.
which would be nice for storing dvd images on

OK, try this... get yourself a small board (2 PCI slots) one slot goes for the net adapter. The other one goes for this....

The problem is the NAS software at the momment is only setup for 4 drives, but a bit of tweaking I imagine it could do 8 just fine. I have a card similar to the one above lying around here somewhere my current system for NAS is an HP Pavillion 6746 will have to find some small drives and play with it.

**Will have torip it open and see what exactly is what in this, I know there are a few menus I wouldnt mind reoganizing or clearing up.
