I've just joined the forum to find out more about the NASLite+ and whether it's the best thing for me.

My proposed home network will consist of the following hardware:

(1) NASLite+ PC - Celeron 333Mhz, 192Mb ram, 160Gb ATA133 HD, 24* CD-Rom, floppy
(2) Router - Belkin 802.11b wireless, with 4 ethernet ports
(3) Wired PC - AthlonXP 3200, 1.5Gb ram, 80Gb HD
(4) Wireless PC - Athlon 850, 512Mb ram, 80Gb HD
(5) Wireless laptop - Pentium 2 366Mhz, 6.4Gb HD

Should I use NASLite+ or Windows server? What are the pros and cons of each?

Cheers,
Andy.

naslite costs a handfull of bucks where as even the non enterprise version of the current windows server is $1k.

not exactly a fair comparison

If we took price out of the equation, how do they compare?

basically look at the naslite feature list and if it does what you want then naslite wins.

windows server does 1000 things naslite does not.... if you dont need them then its complete bloat. otherwise its not.

but since windows costs a fortune i suspect this is academic anyway.
