I will be upgrading my NASlitev1 server with newer Western Digital PATA HDs. I have AMD Duron 800Mhz, 256 SDRAM(max 500MB available if I need it), presently 2 WD 100 HDs. I would like to go to the max size hard drives for replacements. How do I calculate for the best speed for my system? What is the max hard drive sizes I should install?

TIA

First off, add the second 256MB of RAM.

Second, there is no calculation needed to add drives to the NASLite box. Just buy the drive/s in the size/price range you can afford and install it/them as normal. There is no reason that you can't install the new 1TB drives.

Third, get NASLite 2.x. The performance will be better and there will not be the 4GB file transfer limit.
