If the BIOS supports booting from a SCSI CD-ROM, then yes, it is possible. As the NASLite+ page states, NASLite+ can boot from a SCSI, USB, FireWire, etc., provided the computer BIOS supports booting from such device.

Can someone refer me to a site or explain to me, how to take the img file or cdrom and create a bootable usb flash disk for NASLite+. I'd love to get four drives running without having to install another ide controler for my cdrom. TIA

It is possible to make NASLite+ boot from USB Flash rather than the CD-ROM. Obviously you’ll need a BIOS that can boot from an USB Flash device. Here is a general set of steps to achieve that goal:

Make an active FAT32 partition on your USB Flash drive.
Use syslinux to add the syslinux boot loader.
Loop-mount the NASLite+ image file from the CD-ROM boot directory.
Copy all files to the USB Flash.

That should result in a bootable NASLite+ USB Flash drive. The problem however is that NASLite+ will not store the configuration on the USB device and still requires a floppy disk for that.

A new product targeting USB Flash drives specifically is in development and will boot and store configuration data directly in the USB Flash drive. That should be out in the next couple of months.
