The old Gigabyte mobo I have has USB but I don't have the 4 pin header connector to get it connected (I have 2 5 pin connectors!!)
If I fit a PCI USB card, is V2 going to recognise it?

You may be able to use the 5-pin connector with the 4-pin header (or vice-versa) - the fifth pin is a shield connection, which is usually wired to ground.

All you need to do is figure out which pin on each connector is the +5 feed (Pin1, Vbus, Red) and make sure you get that connected correctly, the remaining pins will then line up - the actual connections are

1 - Vbus (+5v)
2 - data -
3 - data +
4 - Ground
5 - Shield
