Hi people, I have just had another power cut and once again my Naslite server will not mount the drive. All is not lost as the drive once again reads on a windows machine using a utility.

Is this normal behavior? It has happened twice now and I wonder if there is any way of avioding this other than a UPS system?

Any thoughts on this would be very much appreciated!

aany drive dumping from mounted to off can have inpredictable results.

I recommend you find a small UPS ... as with 2 outages it really sounds like you need it

On boot NASLite will attempt to automatically repair any filesystem abnormalities. If it can't then a manual filesystem scan is required. That can be performed via the admin menu. After a manual filesystem scan, the drive will again mount normally on reboot.

Thanks for the replies,

I did try to do a scan boths times it happened but it would not do it saying there was a problem. Believe me the first time it happened I tryed over and over because I thought I had lost everyting! I wish I had noted what it said!

Thanks again, time to invest in a UPS system!

Strange, I have made the mistake of unpluging my NASLite 1.0 box twice in the last day. Both times it came up just fine with no problems at all. Were you transfering data when the power went down?

An UPS is a very good idea for your case. For mine I just need to pull my head out of my ass!

No I was not transferring data and had not done for some time!

The first time I switched the power off when doing some work on the house. I only realsised what I had done when I heard the bleeps coming from the Naslite when the power was switched back on! Second time I was sitting watching tv and we had a 10 min power cut. Something to do with living in the sticks!

I did wonder if when you write to the server does it finish what it needs to there and then or does it tie up loose ends as it were on shut down?
