The greatest gift you could give us right now is Write Once Read Many storage within the solid NASlite format. Preferably with vsftpd access only.

I personally have no idea how difficult a Linux implementation might be - but open shares of any kind seem a quaint anachronism in 2016. The environment has changed that much.
