Hi,

Long time user, first time poster.
I have been using NasLite since before 2008. That is when I purchased Naslite 2. I was using the free one for years before that. I never had any trouble or any reason to post until now.

We recently had a lightning storm that fried my old Naslite server. I moved the hard drive to an old Dell Dimesnsion 4300 box and added another 500GB hard drive (Disk-1) to use as a mirror to the existing 500 GB hard drive (Disk-0).
The problem is that Disk-0 is apparently a read only file system. I cannot make any changes to Disk-0 such as adding files or folders.
In the administration panel it will not let me change the export to RO or - so I can format it. It says it is RW now but I cannot write to it. Disk-1 works fine.
Naslite is installed to Disk-0 and boots from there.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks,
TStroud

Sounds like maybe disk0 is the boot and disk 1 is actually the data partition. Disconnect the old drive and use a boot CDROM to format the new 500GB drive.

Then reconnect the old drive and boot again to see if you have three partitions.

All I got right now, sorry. Maybe Tony or Ralph can weigh in and help.

Actually Disk-0 has the boot partition and a data partition. I ran it as a 1 drive system until I switched hardware.
I added a second disk and was going to use it as a mirror. Then I found out I could not write to Disk-0. I then copied all the data from Disk-0 to Disk1.
That is where I am right now. Data is on both Disks only Disk-1 is writable. Disk-0 is bootable but not writable.

You may need to boot the NAS with a live Linux DVD and set the partition to R/W.

Kinda lost at this point myself.

I guess I will check in now and then to see if one of the admins weigh in on the subject.
As of now I can use Disk-1 but I would like to be able to use both disks and the mirror function.
